About
The sports-car road course combines an infield section with the speedway's steeply banked oval and a backstretch chicane.
History
Bill France developed the speedway as a permanent successor to racing on Daytona's beach and road course. It opened in 1959 and hosted the first Daytona 500 that February. Road-course changes in 1985 established the 3.56-mile sports-car configuration used for the Rolex 24.
