About
A fast, undulating circuit with a distinctive Boot extension and a backstretch chicane on the full sports-car layout.
History
Racing began on Watkins Glen's public roads in 1948, while the permanent circuit opened in 1956. It hosted the Formula One United States Grand Prix from 1961 to 1980. The Boot extension was introduced in 1971, and the backstretch chicane followed in 1992. Current circuit and championship publications give inconsistent full-course lengths, preventing verification of a single value.
